RSVP is known for singing music from all genres and our concerts typically have a theme in hopes that we give you, our audience a sense of involvement in the experience that we bring.
Choral music as we know it today originated in churches and places of worship and has evolved through history from chant to spirituals and found in innumerous forms in every language spoken. People have found peace, voiced sadness and torment and lifted praise through the medium of music like no other art form and we are lucky that so much of those emotions have been preserved in the history of our music by means of both aural traditions and academia alike. In our 7th season Julie asked RSVP members to bring to her our personal favorite sacred pieces from our many collective years of singing, for a concert titled "Collective Spirit.” Proceeds from this concert were donated in support of Louisiana clergy men and women who helped to find and support the needs of the people in their parishes following Hurricane Katrina. This concert was wonderful to prepare for as the inspired music from this tradition has had such an impact on each of us in different ways. We hope that you enjoy Ubi Caritas and O Nata Lux from that concert series and that it lifts your spirits. We hope that you will find as much pleasure in receiving this music as we do in presenting it.
